(Reuters) – The Pac-12 Conference on Tuesday joined the Nice Ten in shelving the school soccer season and all different sports activities for the leisure of 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the league commissioner stated.
The Pac-12 – comprising 12 sizable western U.S. universities along side the Faculty of Southern California, Stanford Faculty and Faculty of California at Los Angeles – and the Nice Ten are two of the so-called Power 5 conferences whose athletic packages dominate the opponents for nationwide sports activities titles, notably in soccer.
The picks by the Pac-12 and Nice Ten will heighten the stress on the closing three Power 5 leagues – the Southeastern Conference, Atlantic Cruise Conference and Nice 12 Conference – to advance to a name about whether or not or to not proceed with a plunge soccer season throughout a world pandemic.
